Introduction

A medieval bell with modern fittings and framework

The Bell Historians' Mailing List is an email discussion list founded on 7th February 2002, which at the time of writing has around two hundred members. It was set up to provide a forum for the discussion of matters relating to the history and archaeology of bells, their framework and fittings, and for the sharing of information on these and related topics. There are no specific guidelines on what is suitable for the list - that is up to its members!

To join the list, click on the 'information on joining' link on the bar to the left. To contact the webmaster directly, please send an email to .

In addition to information on the email list itself, the site also contains various other information of likely interest to bell enthusiasts; these include articles on various aspects of bell history and links to other sites. All of these areas can be accessed using the menu bar on the left.

If you do not have a javascript-enabled browser, you will not be able to view the menu or see the email links (which are protected from spam robots using javascript). If this applies to you, please click here for an HTML version of the menu and information on contacting the webmaster.
